General

100 yards from Pendeen lighthouse with spectacular views down the coast and right out to sea, The Old Watch Tower, now restored, spruced up and made into a comfortable detached house with a difference. Its sturdy frame has been a landmark since the 1800s when it was built to keep an eye out for shipping and local trouble from its tower. Approached over 50 yards of track, access is up a few steps to its natural, wildlife-friendly garden, full of tamarisk and native maritime plants, with a small grassed area for table/chairs and of course a great sea view. It is simple and intended for a carefree family holiday.

Step up to double doors opening to lobby with tiled floor, room for coats/boots and comfy bench from which to enjoy the views; hand-crafted kitchen/dining room (slimline dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge-freezer) with granite flagstone floor, butler sink and great view. At this level, two bedrooms – a double, and 2 steps down to a twin (2’6” beds); bathroom (suite plus bath-shower). From the lobby, stairs climb the tower to a loo and snug living room with little woodburner, TV/DVD and sea view, leading through, via a few steps down, to a bunk bedroom with door to exterior staircase. Great spot – binoculars essential! Best for maximum of 4 adults and 2 children.
