It is sometimes difficult to believe that the fishing town of Brixham has been at the centre of so much of British maritime history. From the Dutch invasion of Britain led by William of Orange landing on their shores in 1688 and consequently conquering the country, the rugged coastline also saw the Battle of the Aramda and was a starting point for ships to depart from for the D-Day landings.

Now, very much a 21st century resort, Brixham has retained its charm and the original trawlers still to and fro from the harbour as they have done for centuries.
