General

In the centre of Rose, and close to the paths across the sand dunes to the long sandy beach in Perranporth, is The Smithy. Previously the blacksmith’s, the cottage is over 200 years old, and is now converted into a very comfortable, detached family home with lots of space and light. It is much bigger inside than it appears from the outside.

Living room (coal-effect electric fire, TV/DVD/video) with French windows to south-facing decked sun terrace and garden with lawn, flowers, table/chairs, barbecue. Well-equipped kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, freezer); separate dining room; pretty snug with chairs, books, games and videos. Three bedrooms downstairs – an enormous double, and two singles. Large family bathroom (suite with separate shower); downstairs cloakroom (washer-drier, loo, washbasin). Stairs (narrow, stairgates) straight up into another delightful double bedroom. From the house to the beach across the dunes is just over a mile; to drive takes no more than 5 minutes. Sleeps maximum of 6, including babies. This is a charming, light and welcoming house to come to at any time of year.

Guest Comments

I had meant to write to you ever since we got back. Although we paid for our stay at your cottage, I feel I should thank you for actually letting us stay there. Clearly, your house is not just a rental property, but a home with a lot of personality and we very much enjoyed ourselves.
We also really appreciated all the information you had compiled in the blue folder. As far as restaurants go, we very much recommend Saffron restaurant in Truro. We have been there a number of times in the past year, and the food was most delicious every time we went.
Clearly, I could have stayed for another week, at least, especially since your bed was most comfortable, and I am sure we will be coming back some time next year. - U Schaefer
