Shaldon 4 bed holiday cottage sleeps 8

England  > South West England  > Devon  > Shaldon

ID  5745

General

In Shaldon, a toes-in-the-water, three-storey house, right on the beach, beautifully converted from ancient warehouses and flanked by other properties. Much time and care has been taken to make this a stylish, light, airy, extremely comfortable home. Terrific views at the back across the water to Teignmouth – a brilliant place to watch the boats, fishing cormorants and majestic swans pass by.

Hall with loo (washbasin); elegant living room (TV/DVD) with high ceiling, handsome fireplace (‘living flame’ fire), big windows and glazed doors to balcony and those great views; high, wide archway through to smart fitted kitchen (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, freezer, larder fridge, gas hob/electric oven) with refectory table/bench/chairs and ceramic tiled floor.

On first floor, three bedrooms – a double (5’ bed) with en suite bathroom (suite with jacuzzi bath), a twin room and a single room with pull-out truckle bed, both en suite to same shower-room (suite); sauna room; more stairs up to second floor and a double bedroom (5’ bed) with en suite bathroom (suite with corner bath plus hand-shower) and small balcony with lovely views of the beach, the Ness and brilliant sunsets.

An exceptional house. Loading/unloading outside; roadside parking, or public car park, ½ mile.

Beautiful property overlooking the river estuary. Enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the tide come in and out and Shaldon is a lovely place for an evening stroll. So frustrating that there isnt better car parking facilities for this property as this is a real pain and probably its only downside. - Holidaymaker on 10th Jul 2011

Nothing but praise for this holiday property and it's location. Truely remarkable in every sense. Property owner went out of his way to ensure that we had all that we needed to make our stay perfect. We visit South Devon very often and would love to return here each and every time if it were possible. - Sharon and Bill Hurd Virginia, USA on 12th Jun 2011

The house and stay were great, we had a lovely time, but the overall holiday was marred by the lack of parking, the public pay carpark was quite a distance away, and uphill. We did however have one heavily pregnant and one disabled which didn't help the situation."

The cottage and location were every bit as delightful as portrayed in the brochure. The cottage was well appointed and thoughtfully equipped to make our holiday enjoyable. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed the peace and tranquility. Shaldon itself is a lovely little village with a beach, a wooded walk in a nature reserve near the cliffs and a small zoo. We were able to park on the nearby Green but we think parking could be difficult in the height of summer. Access to the property by car was a little tricky, but the plus side of this was that we saw very few cars near the cottage. The close proximity of the Teign estuary meant that there was always something to see. In short, it is just the place to choose if you want to relax and unwind."

The Sunday lunch at the London Inn, just a few paces from the house is worth having but please book as it gets very busy! - Holidaymaker on 9th May 2011

The cottage and the location is lovely, our 3 boys loved crabbing off of the balcony in the evenings when the tide was up. The village of Shaldon is very pretty and has all the shops you could want eg. Bakers, Butchers, Pharmacy etc. - Mrs E Wells on 27th Apr 2011

delightful property but now fully booked so please find us an alternative-as good!! - Helen Blake on 31st Mar 2011

this place is great we loved it - thankyou! - Holidaymaker on 5th Feb 2011

An excellent property with great views and right in the middle of a really nice village. We took the dog for some lovely walks on the beach and we eat in all of the local pubs... We know Shaldon well and would definitely stay in this property again - Mr D Stroud on 31st Jan 2011

The 3rd time I've stayed here -a true haven especially in the cold weather. a good excuse not to venture much further than the local pub! Shaldon is a beautiful village at any time of year. - Adam Burton on 4th Dec 2010
