This popular Devonshire resort on the English Riviera became a famous holiday destination in the Victorian era and was renowned for its healthy climate and the crème-de-la-crème of British society flocked to its shores, as indeed they still do.

Legend has it that Roman soldiers passed through Torquay and left offerings at the strange rock formation known as The Face in Kent’s Cavern – a must see – but no evidence of a Roman settlement has yet been discovered.
