A one-time hideaway for smugglers, the Devonshire village of Shaldon now attracts visitors for much better reasons, one being that the tiny population can count on five local pubs providing the best in beer, local hospitality and pub grub.

The Shaldon beach on the Teign estuary is close to this delightful three bedroom cottage and the village can accommodate all your needs, unless you feel the pull of the city lights, (or at least town lights) in Teignmouth which can be reached by ferry.

Not completely off the map though, Shaldon hosts a variety of water sports and attractions during the summer months or take the Templar Way if you are up for an 18 mile walk that follows the old export route for granite mined in Dartmoor.
