From the garden, 3 internal steps up to attractive, roomy open-plan living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, microwave) with TV/DVD, gas fire and views at the back across the friendly owners’ lawn and meadows; 2 steps up to double bedroom with en suite bathroom (suite plus bath-shower). Outside, a shed with washing machine and tumble drier and space for bicycles/surfboards. No children. Brilliant for coastal path (400 yards), beach, walking or pub/shops (800 yards).

Bude makes a terrific centre for the stretch of coast from Bideford, Clovelly and (our favourite) the Hartland peninsula to Boscastle, Tintagel and even Padstow. The cottage is quiet and well-equipped, with good walks from the door in all directions. A week wasn't enough and we have no hesitation in recommending Miller's. - The Havertys
