General

In Whitsand Bay, around 30’ above the beach on the very edge of Tregonhawke Cliff, a recently built, detached, single-storey cliff-side chalet with stunning, uninterrupted panoramic sea views. The cottage is next to about 350 yards of mostly steep/rough footpath (occasional steps) which lead to it from the road down gorse and flower-strewn cliffs. A large enclosed deck (table/chairs) along the front is an idyllic spot for surf, sea and ship-watching, small level lawned area (barbecue) at the side. Below the chalet, footpath winds (some very steep/narrow parts/steps) down to the sandy beach.

Inside, fresh modern seaside decor with simple, stylish red, white and blue theme. Two sets of ceiling-high glass doors from deck to light-filled open-plan kitchen/living/dining room (microwave) with polished oak floors, TV/DVD, iPod dock, comfy sofa (converts to double bed for alternative sleeping). Double bedroom (180o views, doors to deck) and a smart twin with side sea views. Shower-room (suite).

Outstanding location/views make it worth the steep climb. Stout shoes/torch essential. Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. No children under 7, except pre-crawling babies.

Guest Comments

"Holiday was excellent, husband and sons thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely go again. Great location, friendly owner, would highly recommend."

"Spent our honeymoon here. Great location but it is a long way down to cottage. Good 10 min climb and in places steep, narrow and slippery. Pack very light every thing you need is there so all you need is food, cloths and a decent pair of shoes. Enjoy we did but you need to be fit and don't get I'll, I did and emergency services were fantastic! If you like remote, sea and peace and quite you will love it. Would love to go back."

"Breathtaking"

"Fantastic holiday location with a millionaires view. Perfect beach, great waves, wonderful walks, but be ready for the path to and from the location."

"Amazing location and stunning view and the chalet is gorgeous, quite spacious and well arranged. Do remember to bring sturdy walking boots to get from the road down the steep cliff to the property. Also - pack light - you've got to carry it all back up the hill at the end of your holiday!"

"WOW what a location, what a chalet. This was the second year running we have taken our holiday here and it didn’t disappoint. The chalet is very well appointed with everything required to make you feel completely at home & to wake to the sound of the sea every morning is just fantastic. The fish and chips from Millbrook are great and the meal at The View restaurant was just incredible (torch essential for the return walk if late) & the Cross Keys at Cawsand has a great lunch/dinner menus all three should be on any visitors to do list."

"The holiday location was fantastic! the chalet was really nice everything was new and modern. Even when it rained it was spectacular because you were so close to the sea. Would love to visit in the winter but the climb down is very steep and we did worry about the kids as its a sheer drop with very narrow paths. A rail on the paths would make all would make all the difference"

"We had a wonderful few days watching the tide go in and out and going for walks on the beach. A wonderful retreat, away from the world:lovely! Just make sure you take the bare minimum with you - as what goes down must go up! WELL WORTH the climb though!"

"We had an excellent time at the chalet. The location is superb and the walk down the Cliff was well worth it! The chalet had everything we needed and I'd love to visit again."

"Stunning location. Helpful owner. The path is quite testing initially but after a few times you get the hang of it. If you are returning after sunset make sure you have your torches with you as it would not be easy to negotiate the path in the dark. This holiday is possible on public transport if you are prepared to adopt a slower pace. The bus 81c runs from Whitsand Bay (via Torpoint chain ferry) to Plymouth Rail St and city centre. We had a Tesco internet shop delivered which we met with our empty rucksacks. The view from the top of the double decker bus was just spectacular. Cremyll passenger ferry is another pleasant alternative into Plymouth (bus 34 into centre). Enjoy!"
