Saunton beach, known by many as Saunton Sands, is a very popular beach that is ideal for families and extremely popular for surfers, with both groups well catered for as the beach stretches in excess of five kilometres along the coastline. This west facing beach is sandy and is backed by large sand dunes called the Braunton Burrows. Holiday cottages in Saunton are very popular as the beach is very long, in summer there are still less crowded spots to enjoy the beach from, there are even some parts of the beach used by naturists.
